From day 3 of the Erasmus-exchange to Albaida, Spain, report Laura R. and Elisabeth M. (10b):
DAY 3
On the third day of our exchange, Wednesday, we met at school at 8:15 am. The bus took us with a 1-hour drive to the beautiful city of Valencia. During a guided tour of Valencia, our exchange partners explained the history and showed us the historical buildings, such as the Central Station or the Market Hall. In the Market Hall we took a break and bought the best fruits. We continued our tour to the old city gate, where we could walk up long stairs and enjoy a wonderful view over the city.
We also got to see the cathedral square and went inside a church. After a very relaxing break, we headed back to the city centre to observe a wonderful and unique tradition: The La Mascletá is a very old tradition in which with loud noises, such as fireworks and loud bangs, the winter spirits are driven out of the city so that spring and summer can begin. It was a unique experience. At the end of the trip we drove to a very modern part of the city, the City of Arts and Sciences, where we had lunch and visited a museum. The modern buildings were very impressive. After returning by bus we ended the day with our host families.
